Working Towards Our Eco Schools Green Flag Award!
At St Anne's, we are passionate about caring for God's creation and making a positive difference to our environment. Over the past few years, and in response to Laudato si, our dedicated Eco Team has worked hard on a range of projects to make our school more sustainable, increase environmental awareness and support our local community.

Our Eco team, which comprises representatives from Years 1 to 6, have led many exciting initiatives. Some of our achievements include:
🌱 Taking part in the Big Battery Hunt to encourage responsible recycling and reduce waste.
🌷 Planting bulbs and flowers to help brighten our school grounds and encourage biodiversity
🦋 Creating bird feeders, building bug hotels, making seed balls and developing opportunities to attract wildlife into our outdoor spaces.
🚶 Participating in litter-picking activities to keep our environment clean and tidy.
💡 Encouraging energy saving by monitoring electricity use in classrooms.
🌍 Supporting CAFOD through fundraising initiatives, including the Big Lent Walk.
🌳 Designing and developing a nature trail within our school grounds to help children learn more about the natural world around them.
🏡 Working alongside the local community by helping to plant and decorate areas within Banstead Village, enhancing shared spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Most recently, our Eco Monitors have organised two successful Second-Hand School Uniform Sales. These events have encouraged the recycling and reusing of school clothing, helping families save money while reducing textile waste. We have been delighted by the support from parents and carers and are proud of the positive impact this initiative has had on our school community.
This year, we are aiming to achieve the prestigious Eco Schools Green Flag Award as a celebration of all the environmental work taking place across our school. We have already established our new Eco Committee who have carried out an environmental review and have begun formulating our action plan for the year ahead.
Our children continue to demonstrate that even small actions can make a big difference. Through their enthusiasm, leadership and commitment, they are helping to care for our common home and inspiring others, including their families to do the same.

We look forward to sharing more updates as we continue our Green Flag journey and hope that our work encourages everyone to join us in protecting and cherishing God's wonderful creation: our Earth.
"The Earth is the Lord's, and everything in it." Psalm 24:1
